A French ship, MT Vannessa, has been impounded by a special naval team in Nigeria. It was confirmed that 500,000 barrels of crude oil was illegally taken per day from Nigeria since June 9.
On the ship were six crew members, which consist of two Togolese, two Britons and two Nigerians and they were arrested at Brass Loading Terminal, Bayelsa State.
During interrogation, the officers were able to get useful information. Some political office holders, many fuel marketers, some officials of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation and Department of Petroleum Resources were involved in the dirty deal.
